Drawing on her book, The Dream of the CosmosAnne Baring’s five illustrated talks will focus on two powerful mythologies which have directed Western civilisation and have led to the split between spirit and nature and the current imbalance between the masculine and feminine principles: the Battle between Light and Darkness and the Myth of the Fall. She will explain how the separation within the psyche between the masculine conscious mind and the deeper feminine matrix of the soul arose and how it can be healed. The astounding discoveries of unified physics and a living universe are restoring the ancient understanding that we are all connected. They are giving us a revelation of our profound relationship with the planet and the universe, answering the questions: who are we and why are we here?

Anne Baring (MA Oxon) is a Jungian analyst, member of the Scientific and Medical Network and author and co-author of 7 books including, with Jules Cashford (1992), The Myth of the Goddess; Evolution of an Image and, with Dr. Scilla Elworthy, Soul Power: an Agenda for a Conscious Humanity. Her most recent book, The Dream of the Cosmos: a Quest for the Soul was awarded the SMN 2013 Book Prize. The ground of all her work is a deep interest in the spiritual, mythological, shamanic and artistic traditions of different cultures. Her website is devoted to the affirmation of a new vision of reality and the issues facing us at this crucial time of choice. www.annebaring.com

Dr Scilla Elworthy will explore the current awakening that is taking place all over the planet and the active role that women, as they are released from their long oppression, are playing in it.  She will explain why a radical advance in human consciousness is now urgent in order to resolve the problems we have created and will define what this is and how it can be implemented. Addressing the choice before us at this time of crisis, she will show the potential we all have for creative action in the world and for discovering and using the resources at our disposal.

Course participants will learn vital skills and tools to enable them to take action on the issues that mean most to them and how to recognise and value the connection between their lives and the life of the world that urgently needs their help.

Dr Scilla Elworthy founded the Oxford Research Group in 1982 to develop effective dialogue between nuclear weapons policy-makers worldwide and their critics, work for which she has been three times nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She founded Peace Direct in 2002 to fund, promote and learn from local peace-builders in conflict areas. Scilla was awarded the Niwano Peace Prize in 2003, and was adviser to Peter Gabriel, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Sir Richard Branson in setting up ‘The Elders’. She co-founded Rising Women Rising World http://www.risingwomenrisingworld.org and advises the leadership of selected international corporations. Her latest book is Pioneering the Possible: awakened leadership for a world that works (North Atlantic Books, 2014), and her TED talk on non violence has been viewed by over 800,000 people https://www.ted.com/talks/scilla_elworthy_fighting_with_non_violence
